Park City, Utah, is known for its skiing and snowboarding, but here are 10 great activities that don't involve riding down a mountain standing up.

1. Deer Valley Snowmobiling

Those who want to hit top speeds, but do it with the aid of an engine, will enjoy snowmobiling at Garff Ranch, a 7,000 acre spread just 10 minutes from Park City. Rides and guided tours of one, two or three hours can be arranged through Deer Valley Resort. (800-424-DEER)

2. Park City Mountain Zip Line

3. Snow Cats at Canyons

The amazing snow cat machines that can slice through snow to groom the slopes can be a source of fun for those who want to try driving one. Canyons Resort has a two-hour ride-along program, or the more adventurous can sign up for an eight-hour shift and get training in how to drive the huge machines. (800-CANYONS)

4. Bobsledding at Olympic Park

Park City played host to several events for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, including ski jumping, luge, skeleton and bobsled. 6. Tubing at Gorgoza Park

Park City Mountain Resort operates Gorgoza Park, which is just off of the I-80 freeway before the Park City turnoff. A conveyor belt and tow rope make it easy to get to the top of the hill. 8. St. Regis Deer Valley Funicular

Going up the mountain can be just as much as going down when riding in the funicular at St. Regis Deer Valley. The Swiss cable cars rise 500 vertical feet in 90 seconds. At the top, have dinner at the J&G Grill and order a 7452’ Mary, a special Park City version of the Bloody Mary that refers to the elevation where the drink is being enjoyed. (435-940-5700, 2300 Deer Valley Drive East, Park City)
