Orange County's "Surf City USA" has beach butlers, old-fashioned surrey bikes for the beach boardwalk, and Segways built for the sand.

Huntington Beach, known as “Surf City USA,” is a beautiful coastal town along the famous Pacific Coast Highway in Orange County. There are many services available to make a trip there easy and relaxing.

Huntington Beach Fire Pits and Evening Bonfires

No visit to Huntington Beach is complete without spending a night roasting marshmallows for s’mores over a campfire in one of the fire pits located right on the beach. What can put some people off from doing this is having to find firewood, load up food and drinks, and then lug everything - including chairs - from the parking lot through the sand to the pit. On top of all of that, on many days during the high season, one has to get there early in the day to snag a pit before they are all taken. Waterfront Adventures, is located right on the boardwalk and is operated by the the Waterfront Beach Resort, which can arrange for a “Beach Butler” to do all the work. All the guests have to do is show up.

The Beach Butler can reserve a fire pit, set up the chairs, get the first started, and even have chilled water and all of the goodies needed for s’mores on hand, so that guests can enjoy one of the classic Southern California beach experiences without any stress or hassle. They also provide services during the day, including cabanas, beach chairs and towel service.

Huntington Beach Bike and Surrey Rentals

Waterfront Adventures also rents beach cruiser bicycles, tandem bicycles and old-fashioned multi-passenger beach surreys which can hold up to four people and have a roof to keep the sun at bay. Rentals can be made for an hour, half day or full day. Since the rental building is right on the boardwalk, guests can simply hop on and begin peddling up and down the coastline.

Huntington Beach Segways on the Sand

Strolling along the sandy beach can be fun, but moving along right by the waves on a Segway is a real adventure. GW Tours has Segways equipped with special tires that allow them to roll over the sand so that guests can have, as they put it, “Segs on the beach.”

GW Tours is located on Pacific Coast Highway, and riders meet there first to get a quick lesson on how to ride the Segways. Many of the tours go through downtown Huntington Beach and then over to the beach. Along the way, the guide provides instructions and directions, while also snapping photos on the way which are then burned on to a keepsake photo CD.

Huntington Beach likes to go by “Surf City USA,” but there are plenty of things to do on the beach for those who don’t surf. A Segway or surrey ride in the afternoon followed by an evening around a roaring fire is a great way to spend a day at the beach.
